Bakso Kumis Lapangan Blok S - Senopati stands as a legendary pillar of Jakarta’s vibrant street food scene, specializing in the beloved Indonesian classic: bakso, or meatball soup. Nestled at 6 Jalan Birah III No.3, in the heart of Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, this bakso restaurant has been delighting locals and visitors alike since the 1990s with its distinctive, hearty bowls of comfort.
Stepping into Bakso Kumis is like traveling back in time to the nostalgic flavors of traditional Indonesian street eats. The dining experience is refreshingly informal and semi-self-service—you start with an empty bowl, add your choice of fresh condiments like fragrant coriander and finely chopped onions, and then approach two enormous pots brimming with meaty treasures. Here, you face the delicious dilemma: tender tendon meatballs or the pure, smooth-textured ones? Or perhaps you’ll opt for bakso alus, urat (tendon), or those stuffed with egg, each offering a unique burst of texture and depth.
The star attraction is undeniably the meatballs themselves—large enough to rival a tennis ball, with a satisfyingly springy texture and rich, savory flavor that speaks of time-honored recipes and quality ingredients. The soup is clear yet deeply comforting, infused with umami notes that perfectly complement the robust meatballs. Despite a few comments about the saltiness, many patrons cherish the interactive element of tailoring each bowl precisely to their taste using kecap (sweet soy sauce), salt, and other condiments.
Atmosphere-wise, Bakso Kumis exudes an authentic, no-frills charm reminiscent of old Jakarta street food stalls. The humble abang bakso (meatball sellers) serve with down-to-earth warmth, adding to the overall inviting vibe. Many longtime customers, like JanuarMG, fondly recall this spot as a “legend” — a place where the comforting taste remains consistent over decades, even as the meatball size slightly decreases.
Price-wise, Bakso Kumis offers excellent value, with huge meatballs priced affordably around 10,000 rupiah each, making it perfect for casual, quick bites without compromising on satisfaction. Whether you’re a seasoned Jakarta foodie or a first-timer eager to dive into iconic local flavors, Bakso Kumis promises a genuine taste of Indonesian culinary heritage that is both profound and delicious.
In essence, dining at Bakso Kumis is more than just a meal—it’s a sensory journey steeped in tradition, warmth, and an enduring passion for one of Indonesia’s most cherished street foods. If you are craving a soulful bowl of bakso with a story behind every meatball, this is the place to go.

UWENAK, so comfort Indonesian meat balls and the abang bakso, that we used to call the seller, is so humble. Well, uwenak is javanese word and it means SO DELICIOUS.

A legend in Blok S. You may have bakso in Blok S but you may never had this big chunk balls of bakso. You may choose from bakso alus, urat and telor. Pick your bowl, add corriander and seasoning and choose your bakso. It is just that simple

Bakso too salty. You have to carry your bowl then put in your kecap, salt etc by yourself. And wait for them to pour the meatballs and soup. Strange. There are very little additions other small amount of onions.

Good food, good atmosphere just like the old days. One of the legend in Bakso. The taste is the same but the size is smaller than I know.
